The Norway Spruce Quilt + a Surprise FREEBIE!

It may be nice and warm outside, but my next quilt project has me dreaming of snow and Christmas lights…

Launching August 24....

Oversized Throw Quilt

At 64 1/2" x 76", this throw was designed to have the flexibility to move from bed topper to couch. You never have to worry about your feet poking out the bottom of this quilt (even for you Talls!)

Start a winter tradition of pulling out this family favourite every November...

Quilting

For a nice wintery texture, we used the Snow Winds pantograph by Urban Elementz.

Magical Winterland Collection

Lisa Audit’s newest collection, Magical Winterland is one of the most nostalgic holiday collections I’ve ever seen! Each print is so detailed, with the most adorable heartwarming scenes to cozy up your home this winter.

I had so much fun with fussy cuts! Lori Holt’s Cute Cuts ruler set is a must for every quilter.

These fabrics really deliver on achieving that cozy winter "Hallmark movie" vibe.

Norway Spruce Tree Heart Block

This block uses a variety of techniques, including 2 at a time Half Rectangle Triangles, (1) Flying Geese Unit, and diagonal seam allowances (similar to the way you join binding strips) to form the Norway Spruce tree at the heart’s center.

Let's Make a Norway Spruce Tree Heart Block

The pattern requires (9) Tree Heart Blocks, and you will have (1) left-over. This is why we designed the FREE Comfort + Joy Pillow. Now you can use that block up with intention and create the most adorable throw pillow for your bed.

1. Lay out your Fabric A & B tree pieces.

2. Start at the top of the tree by drawing a diagonal line as pictured below.

3. Sew on the drawn diagonal line and trim.

4. Now prepare the other side using the same technique.

5. Sew along the diagonal line and trim.

6. Move onto the middle of the tree. Now you can do both sides at once.

7. Sew along diagonal lines and trim.

8. Repeat with the bottom of the tree...

9. Sew along diagonal lines and trim.

10. Fold each strip in half to mark the centers. Line up centers and sew rows together.

11. Ta-da! The tree is complete, now it's time to add the heart background.

12. Fold block in half, creasing the center (line up with the peak of the tree). Trim as directed in pattern.

13. Complete Heart Top + Heart Bottom

14. Sew each row together + add background

15. It's optional to quilt your pillow top, but I love how it gives the pillow more dimension. Consider adding a double layer of batting to make it pop even more! You will definitely want to make the matching Norway Spruce Quilt.

After all, quilts ARE the best way to decorate during the holidays

Hosting Christmas this year? Make company feel extra special with a festive quilt to welcome them to your home.

Throw quilts fold up perfectly at the foot of a bed to instantly transform a room (with the added bonus of warm tootsies for your guests).

The low volume Snow Snowflake print made the perfect background, adding a little wintery texture to the quilt.
