Let's Make a Heartist Apron

Grab that panel you've been saving for a special project- and let's get to it!

The Pockets

One of the best features of this apron (and what will have you reaching for it time and again) are the deeeeeep pockets.

Choose a contrasting print for the pocket backing, as it will form the pocket cuff.

For the pocket lining, you will use the same fabric you are using for the apron skirt so it blends in seamlessly.

Add your pocket framing rectangles to complete this step.

Sew a pocket to each side of your 16" x 16" panel.

The Bib

Sewing pleats into your bib will help contour the apron to your body's shape. The good news is, this is easy to do!

First you will find the center of the the long side of your triangle, then fold it back 1/2". Press.

Put it All Together

With RST, you will sew your apron front to your apron lining- then turn right side out. If you pin it well and make sure all corners and pleats are lined up- it will lay perfectly flat so you can do the top stitching around the perimeter.

Love Me More Fabric Requirements

A little extra fabric is required when using directional prints- this has been factored into the list below. If you are NOT using directional fabrics, just follow the fabric requirements in the pattern.

Pink Bib, Green Skirt

• Fabric A: White (1/3 yd)
• Fabric B: Yellow Flutter (1/2 yd)
• Fabric C: Coral Tonal (1 1/2 yds)
• Fabric D: Green Main (3/4 yd)
• Panel

Your Apron Lining is a duplicate of the apron front, but without pockets or a panel feature. If you are making more than one apron, it's fun to use up all the lovely left-overs so there is no waste!

Yellow Bib, Pink Skirt

• Fabric A: White (1/3 yd)
• Fabric B: Yellow Seeds (1/3 yd)
• Fabric C: Yellow Flutter (1 1/2 yds)
• Fabric D: Blush Main (3/4 yd)
• Panel

Caution: You will start by making one, and will end up making FIVE.
